Sure you could spend Black Friday in a turkey coma after scarfing down a third helping of leftovers or browsing for holiday deals, but Lake Compounce will be offering folks a chance to get into a jolly spirit when its Holiday Lights event kicks off on Nov. 26.\u00a0 While the COVID-19 pandemic kept the amusement parks holiday festivities in the dark for 2020, Lake Compounce will be switching on all 300,000 lights this holiday season. \u201cHoliday Lights at Lake Compounce is back in a big way,\u201d Amy Thomas, the amusement park\u2019s marketing director said in a press release. \u201cWe are already hard at work stringing thousands of lights and putting up our 100-foot-tall Christmas tree. Fitting for our 175th birthday, the tree has 175,000 lights \u2013 it\u2019s a can\u2019t-miss way to know holiday cheer has returned to Connecticut.\u201d In addition to showcasing festive lights in the \u201cglimmering holiday wonderland,\u201d Lake Compounce will be offering family-friendly holiday activities like Elf Boot Camp, writing letters to Santa, cookie decorating and gingerbread house building. Lake Compounce will also offer caroling, storytime with Mrs. Claus and the chance to meet and take photos with the big man himself as Santa will be at the park from Nov. 26 through Dec. 19.\u00a0 The park will also have attractions like Drop Zone, Drum Circus, the North Pole Railway and American Flyers open. Lake Compounce\u2019s ghost hunting ride will also be displaying its first holiday transformation as Boocier\u2019s Haunted Holiday.\u00a0 Holiday Lights will run every weekend from Nov. 26 through Jan. 1 (except for Christmas day) and kicks off with a tree lighting on Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. The park will be open from 4-9 p.m. on Friday and 5-9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
