Connecticut residents will soon have the chance to hear the choir that performed at the Royal Wedding in 2018.

The Kingdom Choir is coming to Fairfield University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on Friday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. The gospel-based choir is made up of singers and performers from London and was founded in 1994.
The choir was elevated to new levels of popularity after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, invited the group to sing at their wedding. The group performed “Stand by Me,” by Ben E. King. The performance has been viewed more than 22 million times on YouTube.
Conductor Karen Gibson will lead the group at Fairfield University. She has been described as “Britain’s godmother of gospel” by The Guardian and led the choir during the wedding. Gibson told The Guardian that the royal couple requested a special arrangement of "Stand by Me" for the wedding, and said, "They wanted it done in a very specific way. We got lots of instruction about how it should be performed. They sent us a couple of links, a Tracy Chapman version. They didn’t want it to be too rhythmic and you can hear that in this arrangement."
Tickets to see the Kingdom Choir are $20 for members of Fairfield University’s Quick Center and $50 for non-members. Those interested in attending can purchase the tickets on Fairfield University’s website.
