The Wilton 10-11-year-old Little League All-Stars ended their domination of the District 1 tournament with a 9-1 victory over North Stamford in the championship game Saturday afternoon at Frank Noto Field in Stamford.

Wilton went 7-0 in the tourney and outscored the opposition by a combined 68-18. In its three playoff games, Wilton scored 26 runs and gave up just two.

"It was rewarding to see the all the time and effort pay off," said Wilton manager Scott Gioffre. "The team really played well throughout the tournament."

In Saturday's game, Wilton led 2-1 through three innings before scoring five runs in the fourth. Will Gioffre's two-run single was part of the rally.

The rally was more than enough for Wilton starting pitcher Richard Nolan, who allowed just one run in five strong innings. Dean DiNanno held North Stamford scoreless in the sixth to end the game.

Kyle Hyzy had a solo homer for Wilton in the first inning.
