Thirty-six Wilton Y Gymnasts competed at Fun-omenal Flippers Invitational on Jan. 9-11 in Glastonbury. This was a huge meet, with 16 gyms from Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island and a combined total of more than 500 competitors.
Wilton came home with team finishes of first place (Level 6), second place (Level 8), third place (Level 3) and fifth place (Level 4). Wilton also had three all-around champions — Kayla Heber and Alyssa Jarrett (Level 6) and Sam Huffman (Level 8).
Individual accomplishments were many and varied. By level and age, below are fifth place or above and scores of 9.0 or higher.
Level 3
Ages 6-7 — Alyssa Mariani placed second on floor (9.4), third on vault, fourth on beam, and fifth in the all-around.
Eight-years-old — Sienna Morris took third place on floor (9.5), fourth place on beam, and fifth on vault (9.05), bars and in the all-around.
Nine-years-old (Junior) — Grace DiBuono-Krafick placed third in the all-around and on beam (9.15) and bars (9.05), placed fifth on vault (9.25), and scored 9.0 on floor.
Nine-years-old (Senior) — Peyton Ricco finished fourth in the all-around with a first place on floor (9.7) and a second place on vault (9.45). Sofia Blessing placed fourth on beam (9.0) and bars, and scored 9.3 on floor and 9.05 on vault.
Ten-years-old (Junior) — Donna Stepnowsky finished third on bars with a 9.3.
Ten-years-old (Senior) — Gillian Lipsky finished second in the all-around, with a first place on floor (9.2), third on vault (9.25) and bars (9.15) and fourth on beam (9.45). Kaylie Berghaus finished third in the all-around, with a first place on bars (9.25), second on vault (9.3) and third on beam (9.5). Chloe Jureller scored high in all four events, finishing third on floor (9.0), fifth on bars (9.0) and earning 9.0 on beam and 9.05 on vault. Maddie Rosa took third place on vault (9.25) and scored 9.05 on beam. Samantha Bauer finished third on bars (9.15).
11-years-old — Jarrett came in second place in the all-around, with first-place finishes on beam (9.35) and floor (9.3), a fifth place on bars (9.05) and a score of 9.1 on vault.
12-years-old — Michaela Kane won first place for beam (9.65) and fifth place for bars (9.0) and for vault.
Level 4
Ten-years-old (Junior) — Olivia Mannino took third place in the all-around, with a first-place finish on beam (9.75) and third place on floor (9.25), bars (9.05), and vault (9.0).
11-years-old (Junior) — Blaze Ricco finished fourth in the all-around and fifth on beam (9.25).
12-years-old — Emma Daughtery placed third in the all-around with a first-place finish on vault (9.3), a fifth place on bars (9.0), and scores of 9.15 on beam and 9.05 on floor. Peyton Gildersleeve placed fifth on floor (9.1) and on bars (9.0) and scored 9.05 on beam. Dillon Loud garnered second on bars (9.15). Erin Daughtery brought home second for vault (9.2). Katherine Walsh placed fourth on beam (9.5) and fifth on vault (9.0). Nicole Beecher scored 9.0 on floor.
Level 5
12-years-old — Megan McNamara took second place for bars (9.0) and third for beam, floor and in the all-around.
13-years-old — Libby Hinshaw placed fourth on beam and fifth on bars.
Level 6
Ages 9-11 — Mia Karlehag took second place on floor (9.4), third place on beam (9.1), and fourth place on vault (9.0) and in the all-around.
12-years-old — Lauren Cooper finished third on bars (9.2) and scored 9.2 on floor.
13-years-old — Kayla Heber was the all-around champion and had first-place wins on floor (9.7) and beam (9.3), and third-place finishes on vault (9.2) and bars (9.05). Kate Ginsburg finished second in the all-around, tying for first on floor (9.7) and earning third on beam (9.0), fourth on bars (9.0), and fifth on vault (9.05). Rachel Esslinger took second on floor (9.4) and fourth on vault (9.1).
14 and up — Alyssa Jarret was the all-around champion and finished first on bars (9.5), second on vault (9.4), third on beam, and fourth on floor (9.5).
Level 7
Junior — Marra Woodring was the Level 7 all-around champion and won first place on bars (9.35), second place on beam (9.2), fifth place on vault (9.2) and scored 9.0 on floor.
Level 8
Ages 14-15 — Sam Huffman was the Level 8 all-around champion and took first place for beam (9.4) and bars (9.05) and third place on floor (9.1). Grace Breen tied for third on floor (9.1), placed third on vault, and finished fourth on bars and beam.
15 and up — Lizzie Berta took second place on bars, fourth place on vault, and fifth place on floor (9.0) and in the all-around.
