When the Wilton Little League 9/10-year-old All-Stars lost their opening game to Fairfield American in the Section 1 state tournament last Wednesday, it looked as though the locals might have a short stay inn the double-elimination event.

But since that defeat, Wilton has reeled off three straight victories to emerge as the winner of the losers' bracket and reach the championship series.

Wilton will need to beat undefeated Southington on Tuesday in Bristol in order to force a winner-take-all second game on Wednesday, also in Bristol.

The Section 1 champion will play the Section 2 winner for the overall state championship.

Wilton followed up its opening 13-2 loss to Fairfield American with a 16-13 triumph over Prospect, a 4-3 win over Branford, and an 11-7 victory over Fairfield American in the losers' bracket finals on Sunday.

Wilton qualified for the state sectionals by winning the District 1 title.
