The Wilton Little League Softball 10-under all-star team reached the District One championship game with a 14-5 win over Darien on Friday in the final game of pool play.

Wilton rallied for four runs in the first inning sparked by a two-out double by Chrissy D’Elisa that landed just inside the left-field foul line. Lara Burke followed with a hard-hit single to drive in another run.

Darien fought back with two runs in the bottom of the first, and single tallies in the second and third innings, to make the contest close. Wilton then exploded for six runs in the fourth inning, with Victoria Richards, Maya Farrell, Anna Imrie, Chrissy D’Elisa, Melanie Wells and Suzy Malburg all scoring for Wilton.

Kate Murray and Maya Farrell tacked on two more runs in the fifth on Anna Imrie’s rope to left field to put Wilton ahead 14-5.

Maya Farrell was masterful on the mound, striking out seven and only allowing two hits.

Wilton was coming off a 10-0 loss to Redding-Easton the day before.

“This team showed character in bouncing back (after the loss on Thursday),” commented Wilton’s manager John D’Elisa, “We had great energy and focus today, and the girls are playing exceptionally well. We are excited to playing for the district championship.”
