Little League: A’s blank Rangers in fall title game

The Wilton A’s met the Wilton Rangers in the Wilton Little League fall baseball grades 5-7 championship game last Thursday night, with the A’s coming away with 10-0 victory.

The A’s started out quickly as they scored four runs in the first inning, sparked by RBI hits by Adam Daversa and Michael Fischetti. The A’s added two more runs in the second inning and four more in the fourth inning.

Mario Cavone and Jackson Carbonier were active on the bases, scoring three runs apiece. Fischetti added three hits including a home run and three RBI.

But the big story of the night was the pitching of A’s starter Michael Fischetti. He was outstanding as he pitched five-plus innings, striking out 13 batters. Andre Gaudio came in to close the game in the sixth inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced to preserve the victory and the no-hitter.

The A’s also turned in a solid defensive effort with plays being made by Quentin Case, Griffin Palmer, Aaron Schwartz and Drew Lane.
