The spring high school sports season has come to a close, so we\u2019ll wrap things up with a look at some key stats and facts from the postseason in this week\u2019s Wave by the Numbers. 12-6 Score of the Darien Blue Wave\u2019s victory over rival New Canaan in the CIAC Class L girls lacrosse final on June 8 at Jonathan Law High School in Milford. The Wave trailed 2-1 after five minutes, but scored the next six goals to take control. 10 Consecutive victories in the state girls lacrosse finals for the Blue Wave. Darien has appeared in 12 CIAC finals, going 10-2 overall. The Wave won five straight from 2013 to 2017 before being eliminated in the semifinals last spring. 21-2 Final record of the Darien girls lacrosse team this season. The Wave was 17-0 against Connecticut opponents and beat rival New Canaan three times, including in the FCIAC and state finals. 13-3 Score of Darien\u2019s win over Wilton in the CIAC Class L boys lacrosse final on June 8 at Brien McMahon High School. Darien scored the first eight goals of the game to set the tone for the victory. 10 Blue Wave players who had a point in the boys lacrosse final. Hudson Pokorny led that group with a hat trick; Michael Minicus and Henri Pfeifle each scored twice; Holt Matheis, Colin Ruppenstein, Sam Wilson, Cooper Hancock, Sam Cragin, and Matt Freeman each had one goal; and Tommy Hellman had an assist. 14 CIAC boys lacrosse championships for the Darien Blue Wave. Twelve of those titles have come during the past 15 years, including runs of six straight from 2005 to 2010, and four straight from 2014 to 2017. 75 Score shot by Darien\u2019s Alex Gu, who won the CIAC State Open boys golf championship on June 8 at Black Hall Club. Gu, who was second with a 73 at the Div. I match on June 3, had four birdies while finishing one stroke ahead of Hamden\u2019s Alexander Aurora. 311 Score for the Darien boys golf team at the CIAC Div. I championship at Timberlin Golf Club on June 3. The Wave, which finished in the runner-up spot, received a 73 from Gu, a 76 from Henry Sparkman, a 79 from Thomas Ostberg, and an 83 from Matthew Daileader. 28 Points for the Darien boys tennis team, which won its first state championship in 11 years during the CIAC Class L championships at Wesleyan University, held May 26-30. Rival New Canaan was a close second with 24 points. 2 Titles for Darien at the CIAC Class L boys tennis tournament, as Michael Karr won the singles crown, and Chris Calderwood and Romano DeCaprio took the doubles championship. The Wave duo of Sergei Doroshin and Andrew Kelley were semifinalists.
