The Wilton High football team had its two-game winning streak end with a 49-20 loss to St. Joseph on Friday night at Tom Fujitani Field. St. Joseph (4-1) began the game with three unanswered touchdowns to take a 21-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Wilton (3-2) then got on the scoreboard when RJ Romeo threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Carter Vail, cutting the Cadets' lead to 21-6. But St. Joseph added another touchdown before the half ended to go ahead 28-6. After blocking a punt, Wilton scored on a five-yard keeper by Romeo and then converted the two-point attempt to pull within 28-14 late in the third quarter. But St. Joseph returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown to take a 35-14 lead at the end of the third quarter. Wilton's TJ Savvaides scored on a two-yard run to make it 35-20 with under nine minutes to play, but the Cadets returned an onside kick for a touchdown and then scored again to complete their 49-20 victory.
