The Wilton High boys tennis team suffered its first loss of the season on Monday, falling to Staples on Monday in Westport, 5-2. The Warriors dropped to 12-1 with the defeat. Staples (11-2) swept the first four singles matches in straight sets, losing only 10 games. At fifth singles, Wilton's Jay Cassone rallied to beat Jack Tooker in three sets, taking the second set 7-6 and then the third set in a pro-set tiebreaker, 10-8. Jordan Lord and Henry Murphy of Wilton remained undefeated at first doubles with a three-set win over Brenden Price and Tyler Wright. At second doubles, Staples won in straight sets with the team of Jack Greenwald and Jay Mudholkar. The Warriors host undefeated New Canaan (12-0) today at 4.
