An impressive effort in a victory over\u00a0Bridgeport Central\u00a0last Friday\u00a0has put Wilton\u00a0High girls volleyball player Natalie Bennett\u00a0among the nominees for the HAN Network\u2019s Athletes of the Week award. As the official broadcasting partner of the FCIAC, the HAN Network each week will recognize two Athletes of the Week, one male and one female from league schools. Bennett had 16 service points, including 10 aces, and six kills in the Warriors' 3-0\u00a0win over Central. To vote for Bennett\u00a0or one of the other nominees,\u00a0click here. Darien High swept last week\u2019s HAN Network FCIAC Athlete of the Week voting, as Blue Wave soccer player Jack Kniffin and field hockey player Marissa Baker topped the poll. Kniffin drew 34% of the 1,962 votes cast on the boys\u2019 side, while Baker accrued 33% of the 2,253 votes cast for Female Athlete of the Week. The HAN Network sports staff nominates male and female candidates each Monday. The winners will then be chosen in an online poll and saluted on the FCIAC Gameday program, which airs two hours before the HAN Network football game of the week on Friday or Saturday. Voting this week closes at noon Friday, Oct. 2. This week\u2019s winners will be announced as Gameday leads up to the HAN Network\u2019s coverage of Fairfield Warde vs. Staples in FCIAC high school football, live on the HAN Network this\u00a0Friday.
