Wrestling: Three Warriors alive in Class L tourney

The Wilton High wrestling team has three wrestlers still alive in the Class L state championships, after the opening day of competition on Friday at Bristol Central.

Nick Rende advanced to the quarterfinals at 106 pounds with a pin over Michael Correia of Fairfield Warde at 5:24.

At 126 pounds, Quinn Reedy had a first-round bye and then lost by pin (1:44) to Albert Landry of Middletown. He won his first wrestleback match by pin over Ben Coppock of Immaculate/Joel Barlow.

At 152 pounds, Zach Zeyher opened the tournament with 6-0 win over Sam Bartlett of Immaculate/Joel Barlow, before falling to Brendan Zotti of Newington, by pin at 2:45. He won his first wrestleback match, 8-4, over Mario Morales of Maloney.

The tournament concludes on Saturday.
