Wilton volleyball, field hockey teams stay unbeaten


Wilton 3, Westhill 2

The Wilton High volleyball team remains unbeaten after four matches, thanks to a five-set win over Westhill on Friday at home.

The Warriors (4-0) won the overall match, 3-2, by scores of 18-25, 25-18, 25-17, 21-25, 15-10.

Rachel Low had another strong match with 20 assists, four kills, five digs and five service points (two aces). Juliana Musilli had six kills, 10 digs and 15 service points (four aces).

Sommer Rogg had a team-high seven kills along with two digs and six service points (two aces), and Sophie Phelan had eight digs and seven service points (three aces).

Field hockey

Wilton 2, Warde 0

Visiting Fairfield Warde started strong, earning a penalty corner in the first minute of the game. But after that, the Wilton High field hockey team dominated Friday’s game, en route to a 2-0 win.

The Warriors stayed unbeaten at 3-0-1.

Despite dominating the remaining 29 minutes of the first half, and getting six corners, Wilton struggled to connect inside the arc and failed to produce until Emma Rothkopf knocked in a loose ball in front with 1:53 left in the first half. Susan Clasby got the assist.

Molly Ward made it 2-0 about six minutes into the second half, knocking the ball in after a scramble in front of the cage.

For the game, the Warriors had a 12-2 edge in corners and 15-2 advantage in shots at goal. Emma Likely made two saves in goal for Wilton.
