Wilton tennis teams split with Tigers
The Wilton boys and girls tennis teams split matches with Ridgefield on Tuesday afternoon.
The victory came from the Wilton girls team, which shut out the visiting Tigers, 7-0.
Wilton (6-2 overall this season) dominated the four singles matches, winning each in straight sets.
Izzy Koziol and Emma Caldwell romped to 6-0, 6-0 triumphs at first and second singles, respectively. Rhea Raghavan added a 6-4, 6-1 win at third singles, and Alexandra Iotzova contributed a 6-2, 6-1 victory at fourth singles.
Wilton's top doubles team of Arden Lee and Amber Li rallied from a first-set loss to win their match by scores of 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Gerri Fox and Grace Cahill provided a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at second doubles, and Kate Seelert and Mackenzie McCormick completed Wilton's sweep with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 (third set played as 10-point tiebreaker) win at third doubles.
In Ridgefield, the Wilton boys tennis team lost to the host Tigers by a score of 4-2.
Wilton's points came via victories from its top-two doubles teams.
Henry Murphy and Conrad Emerson won 6-3, 6-3 at first doubles, and Rahul Vallabhajosula and Ian Kolupara added a 1-6, 7-5, 12-10 (third set played as 10-point tiebreaker) triumph at second doubles.
The third-doubles match was stopped in the second set due to rain.
Ridgefield swept the four singles matches from a Wilton lineup that was without top singles player Nick Condros.
The Warriors dropped to 4-4 with the loss.
