Wilton teams in state tourney action this week

Three Wilton High teams will play state tournament games in a span of two days this week.

On Tuesday, the Wilton boys basketball team hosts East Haven in a Class LL first-round game at 7 p.m. at the Zeoli Field House. The Warriors are seeded 10th and East Haven 23rd in the 32-team field.

The Wilton-East Haven winner advances to play either seventh-seed Naugatuck or 26th-seed Harding in the second round on Wednesday. That game will take place at the home of the higher seed.

Also on Tuesday, the 13th-seeded Wilton boys hockey team travels to the Northford Ice Pavilion to play fourth-seed North Branford in a Division II first-round game. The winner meets either fifth-seed Newington/Berlin/Manchester or 12th-seed Guilford in the quarterfinals on Friday at a site and time to be determined.

On Wednesday, the Wilton girls basketball team hosts FCIAC rival Stamford in the Class LL quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Wilton is seeded second and Stamford 10th.

The winner of that game moves on the Class LL semifinals next Monday against either third-seed Mercy or 22nd-seed Fairfield Ludlowe at a site and time to be determined.
