Wilton soccer teams advance to FCIAC semis

The Wilton High boys and girls soccer teams are both moving on to the conference semifinals.

In Westport, fifth-seed Wilton got two goals from Jack Brandt to beat fourth-seed Staples, 2-0, in an FCIAC boys soccer quarterfinal game. Brendan Devane and Chauncey Allers had assists for Wilton.

The Warriors will now face top-seed Greenwich in the semifinals on Monday night at Fairfield Ludlowe.

Later on in Wilton, the host Warriors defeated seventh-seed Fairfield Warde, 2-0, in an FCIAC girls soccer quarterfinal contest.

Wilton got goals from Bridget Dwyer on a free kick in the first half and Rebecca Hersch on an assist from Annika Sheehan just 22 seconds into the second half.

Second-seed Wilton will play a team to be determined in the semifinals on Monday night at Norwalk High.
