With Darien clearly unbeatable, the race was for second place at the FCIAC girls swimming championship meet Wednesday at Greenwich High.

It was a race that Wilton won.

The Warriors had 274 points to edge Norwalk (266 points) for second place behind Darien (394.50), which finished first by more than 100 points. New Canaan was fourth with 259 points.

Stephanie Moriarty led Wilton with second-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (59.20) and the 100 backstroke (59.23).

Kristen Moss added a second-place finish for the Warriors in the 500 freestyle (5:10.37) and was fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:56.89).

Emma Holmquist finished fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:11.99) and sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.63), while Brooke Hendee was sixth in the 200 IM (2:15.71) and eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.74).

Also placing in the top eight for Wilton were Katrina Trentos (fourth, 5:17.19) in the 500 freestyle, Emma Kauffeld (sixth, 5:17:57) in the 500 freestyle, Linsay Cooney (seventh, 1:10.63), and Hannah Armstrong (eighth, 1:02.05) in the 100 backstroke.

The Warriors were third in the 200 medley, fifth in the 400 freestyle relay and sixth in the 200 freestyle relay.
