Wilton's Spencer Brown finished 18th in the boys one-mile championship run Sunday at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor meet in Greensboro, N.C.
Brown, a junior at Wilton High, had a time of 4:17:08.
Christian Alvarado, who attends Fairfield Prep, won the event in a time of 4:06.88.
Brown was coming off a second-place finish in the 1,600 at the recent State Open championship meet.
Because the New Balance Nationals Outdoor is not a high school-sanctioned event, Brown and the other competitors competed for club teams.
