Wilton relay lowers school record, places fourth at regionals

For the second time in less than a week, a Wilton High girls relay team set a school record.

Only this time there was another bonus: All-New England honors.

Wilton's 4x800-meter relay of Alex Fiesel, Sarah Healy, Annika Sheehan and Alosha Southern finished fourth at the New England Interscholastic Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday at Willowbrook Park in New Britain. Their time of 9:20.15 lowered their own school record of 9:21.63, which was set at the State Open meet last Monday.

Rhode Island teams Barrington (9:05.49) and La Salle Academy (9:06.22) were first and second, respectively, and both broke the previous New England meet record of 9:12.16.

New Milford was third in a time of 9:17.57.

By placing in the top six, Fiesel, Healy, Sheehan and Souther earned All-New England honors.

Wilton's Spencer Brown competed in the boys 1,600-meter race and finished 25th in a time of 4:36.77.
