Wilton girls swim team ties for 15th at State Open

The Wilton High girls swim team ended its season by tying for 15th place at the State Open meet Saturday at Yale University in New Haven.

Wilton and E.O.Smith each scored 117 points, four more than 17th-place Branford (113 points).

Darien defended its State Open title by finishing first with 510 points. Greenwich was second with 406 points and New Canaan third with 404 points.

Wilton's best performance actually came two days earlier, when Allison Courtney placed sixth in the diving portion of the meet Thursday at Middletown High School with 426.65 points.

On Saturday, Emma Holmquist and Katrina Trentos each scored points in two individual events for the Warriors. Holmquist was seventh in the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.32) and 16th in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.49), while Trentos finished seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:10.68) and 20th in the backstroke (1:01.82).

NoraNoel Nolan also contributed points for Wilton with a 21st-place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:00.05).

The Warriors scored points in all three relays: Maddie Srivastava, Brooke Hendee, Natalie Larsen and Julia Lewis were 19th in the 200 medley relay (1:55.41); Holmquist, Hendee, Samantha Florio and Sydni Robinson were 19th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.48); and Emily Walden, Robinson, Lewis and Holmquist were 22nd in the 400 freestyle relay (3:47.41).
