Wilton girls second in final state top-10 poll

With a dominating victory in the state finals came more respect in the state.

After routing South Windsor, 73-45, in the Class LL finals, the Wilton High girls basketball team finished second in the final GameTimeCT/Register Girls Basketball Top 10 poll of the season.

The Warriors (25-2), who had been ranked eighth in the previous state poll, received 466 points to finish second to Capital Prep (25-1), which beat Northwest Catholic, 87-59, in the Class L championship game. Capital Prep's only loss this season came to a team from New Jersey.

Capital Prep received all 17 first-place votes and had 510 points.

The rest of the final top 10 included Farmington, Mercy (which lost to Wilton, 55-54, in the Class LL semifinals), South Windsor, Norwich Free Academy, St. Joseph, Thomaston, Morgan, and Cromwell.
