In the first three days of the regular season, the Wilton High girls basketball team has picked up two impressive victories — both on the road.

After beating Ridgefield on Wednesday, the Warriors added a 48-43 victory over two-time defending FCIAC champion Danbury on Friday night.

Wilton (2-0) built a 38-28 lead entering the final quarter and then kept the Hatters from coming all the way back.

Erin Cunningham led Wilton with 16 points, hitting three three-pointers.

Haley English added 12 points, and Makenna Pearsall and Karen Brosko each had five points.

Rachel Gartner drained five treys and scored a game-high 22 points for Danbury, but Wilton held her twin sister, Rebecca, to just five points.

Wilton also beat Danbury during the regular season last year but then lost to the Hatters in the FCIAC semifinals.

In Friday night's game, the Warriors led 11-10 after one quarter and 25-18 at halftime.

All seven Wilton players scored in the victory.
