Wilton football team won't be road Warriors this season

The Wilton High football team will save some money on bus rides this fall.

The Warriors play five of their nine regular-season games at home, including the first three contests of the year.

Wilton opens the 2015 season by hosting Brien McMahon on Friday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. The Warriors then welcome Staples (Sept. 25, 7 p.m.) before meeting Fairfield Ludlowe in Wilton's homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 2:30.

Following the team's first road game on Oct. 9 at Fairfield Warde, Wilton returns home to play St. Joseph on Oct. 16.

Three of Wilton's final four regular-season contests are on the road, including the annual FCIAC Thanksgiving rivalry game against Trinity Catholic on Thursday, Nov. 26, at 10 a.m. in Stamford.

The Warriors finished with a 3-8 record in 2014, going just 1-8 against conference opponents. After winning three of its first four games, Wilton ended the season with seven straight losses.

With Bridgeport schools Harding and Bassick no longer in the conference (as of the 2015-16 school year), the FCIAC will shrink from three football divisions to two this season. Wilton will play all seven of its division rivals, in addition to two cross-over games (Fairfield Ludlowe, Trinity Catholic).
