Wilton football team falls to Ridgefield, 23-15

On Senior Night, the Ridgefield High football team continued its master class over arch-rival Wilton.

Ridgefield extended its unbeaten streak against the Warriors to 20 games with a 23-15 victory over the visitors Friday evening at Tiger Hollow.

The Tigers are now 19-0-1 in their last 20 games with Wilton.

Senior quarterback Ryan Dunn returned after missing several games with an ankle injury and ran for two touchdowns and threw for another to lead Ridgefield (2-8), which has now won two of its last three games.

Dunn's one-yard TD run gave the Tigers a 7-0 lead with 4:46 left in the opening quarter.

Wilton, which dropped to 3-7 with its sixth consecutive loss, tied the score early in the second quarter when Matt D'Elisa intercepted a Dunn pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown.

The Tigers went ahead to stay with 1:03 left before halftime, as Dunn connected with Collin Lowe on a 10-yard touchdown pass. The extra point was no good, leaving Ridgefield with a 13-7 halftime lead.

Midway through the third quarter, Dunn scored on a 15-yard run. Petros Papadopoulos then kicked a 23-yard field goal with one minute left in the period to stretch Ridgefield's lead to 23-7.

Wilton pulled within eight points at 23-15 after quarterback RJ Romeo tossed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jack Dexter and the Warriors converted on the two-point try.

But Wilton's final drive ended when Ridgefield linebacker Dante Cobelli intercepted a pass.
