Wilton fifth at Class L girls swim meet

The Wilton High girls swim team finished fifth at the Class L state championship meet, which took place Wednesday at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.

The Warriors had 477 points to finish behind Darien (815.5), New Canaan (570), Cheshire (547) and Pomperaug (501). Darien and New Canaan finished first and second, respectively, in Class L for the fourth straight year.

Emma Holmquist and Katrina Trentos each had two top-eight individual finishes for Wilton. Holmquist was fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.91) and sixth in the 200 individual medley (2:08.45), while Trentos placed fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:08.02) and seventh in the 100 backstroke (1:01.06).

Maggie Kauffeld added a top-eight finish for the Warriors by placing seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:16.49).

Wilton was in the top six in all three relay races. Holmquist, Brooke Hendee, Sam Florio and Sydni Robinson were fifth in the 200 freestyle relay (1:41.80); Robinson, Kauffeld, Julia Lewis and Holmquist were fifth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:42.40); and Maddie Srivastava, Hendee, Natalie Larsen and Lewis were sixth in the 200 medley relay (1:54.30).
