The Wilton High field hockey team rebounded from Monday’s tough loss to Mamaroneck, N.Y., by trouncing Trumbull on Wednesday at home, 5-0.

The Warriors improved to 9-1 in FCIAC play, and 9-3 overall.

Maddie Duffy led the scoring for Wilton with two goals, with singles tallies by Caroline Ferro Jillian Mahon and Delaney Chase. Ferro and Emma Rosen each had one assist.

The Warriors led 2-0 at halftime, and finished the game with a 20-0 advantage in shots at goal.

Trumbull, which entered the game fifth in the FCIAC points standings, just a point behind Norwalk, dropped to 6-3-1 in the conference, and to sixth in the FCIAC points standings. The Eagles are 7-3-1 overall.

Wilton, ranked fourth in the state in the most recent coaches poll, is second in the FCIAC points standings, two points behind unbeaten Darien.

The Warriors travel to New Canaan on Friday for a 4 p.m. game against the Rams. New Canaan (7-3-1 FCIAC, 8-3-1 overall) are currently fourth in the FCIAC points standings. The Rams are coming off a 1-0 loss to Greenwich on Wednesday.
