Wilton field hockey team advances to state finals
The Wilton High field hockey team will have a shot at a three-peat.
First-half goals from Kristen Godin and Emily Arrix led the second-seeded Warriors to a 2-1 victory over third-seed Daniel Hand in a Class M state tournament semifinal game Tuesday night in Cheshire.
Wilton will now aim for its third straight Class M title when it plays top-seed Lauralton Hall the state final on Saturday at Wethersfield High School at a time to be announced.
Lauralton edged fourth-seed Avon, 1-0, in overtime in another semifinal Tuesday night.
Godin and Arrix scored to give Wilton a 2-0 halftime lead over Hand. Hand then pulled within one goal when it scored with under 10 minutes to play, but the Warriors held on for the victory
