Wilton boys soccer team prevails in state opener
Matt Przybysz’s goal with just under 10 minutes to play accounted for the only scoring as the Wilton High boys soccer team defeated 22nd-seed East Hartford in a Class L state tournament first-round game Tuesday in Wilton.
The 11th-seeded Warriors, who improved to 11-5-3 with the victory, will now travel to West Hartford on Thursday for a second-round game against sixth-seed Conard, which beat Trumbull, 5-3, on Tuesday.
Wilton goalie Will DeSantis stopped all 12 East Hartford shots in Tuesday’s game to get the shutout. DeSantis was aided by a strong defensive effort, which included a goal-line clearance by Chauncey Allers in the final minute of play.
East Hartford finished the season with an 8-8-1 record.
