Wilton boys lax ends regular season with win over McMahon

Senior Charles McGovern scored six goals to lead the Wilton High boys lacrosse team to a 17-8 win over Brien McMahon on Saturday afternoon in Norwalk.

The win, which came in Wilton's regular-season finale, kept the Warriors (7-8 overall, 6-5 FCIAC) in the running for a spot in the eight-team conference playoffs, which begin next Friday.

Wilton got off to a great start against McMahon, taking an early 4-0 lead. The Warriors were ahead, 8-2, after the first quarter and never looked back.

McMahon eventually closed to within 9-5, but Wilton kept putting the ball in the net.

In addition to McGovern’s six goals, Michael Lynch, Peter Koch, and Reid Melillo chipped in with two goals apiece, and Harrison Koch contributed three assists.

Notes: Wilton has already clinched a berth in the Class M state tournament.
