Wilton boys hoop team rolls over Ridgefield in opener

For the Wilton High boys basketball team, it was a nearly flawless start: A 20-2 lead after the first quarter of the first game of the season, on the road against arch-rival Ridgefield and its vocal home crowd.

And the Warriors didn't stop there.

Wilton maintained its strong play, going on to a 60-41 victory over the Tigers on Wednesday night.

Senior guard Matt Shifrin led Wilton (1-0) with 18 points, while sophomore Jack Williams added 15 points and senior Mike Bingaman had 12 points.

Scott Shouvlin (six), Lucas Savoie (four), Miles Emrasy (three) and TJ Savvaides (two) also scored for the Warriors.

Savoie had eight rebounds, and Shifrin dished nine assists.

Will Brady scored 18 points for Ridgefield (0-1).
