Wilton boys hockey team holds off Stamford, 5-4

A four-goal second period carried the Wilton High boys hockey team to a 5-4 victory over Stamford on Saturday night at Terry Conners Rink in Stamford.

With the game tied 1-1 after the opening period the Warriors (3-9-3) scored four consecutive goals in the second period to take a 5-1 lead.

But Stamford responded with three straight goals in the final period to close within 5-4 with 6:20 to play. Wilton preserved its one-goal lead thanks to several sensational saves by goalie Derek Prario, including two key stops in the final 30 seconds.

Christian Hansson had two goals for Wilton, while Alec Biegen, Kyle Jonas and Joey Cullinan also scored.

David Craven contributed two assists, and Jameson Hill, Mitch Alexander, Jonas and Cullinan added one assist apiece.

Prario finished with 40 saves.
