Wilton boys hockey team drops opener in OT (updated)
The Wilton High boys hockey team opened its season with a tough 3-2 loss in overtime to Tri-Town on Thursday in Enfield.
David Craven got the first goal for Wilton at the 12:47 mark of the opening period on an assist from Joey Cullinan, giving the Warriors a 1-0 lead.
But Tri-Town got second-period goals from Jay Skaruluski and Ryan Sherba to take a 2-1 lead.
Wilton tied the game with just over three minutes left in the third period when Cullinan scored off an assist by Kyle Jonas.
Wilton goalie Derek Prario made an outstanding glove and pad save on a Tri-Town breakaway with 1:37 left in regulation to keep the game tied.
With 4:20 left in overtime, Tri-Town's Ryan Bialy scored the game-winning goal on a tip-in over Prario.
Prario finished with 27 saves for the Warriors, who outshot Tri-Town, 48-30.
Wilton returns to action on Saturday against Newtown at the Danbury Ice Arena at 4 p.m.
