Wilton boys golf team edges Warde

The last two competitors to finish decided the Wilton-Fairfield Warde boys golf match Tuesday at Rolling Hills Country Club in Wilton.

With Wilton holding a tenuous one-stroke advantage after the first four players from each team had completed their rounds, the Warriors clinched the victory when fifth player Justin Shepard parred the ninth hole to finish with a 45.

Shepard's total counted towards Wilton's team score as the Warriors emerged with a 180-184 victory over Warde.

Captain Sam Marsh once again led the Warriors, returning a respectable 42 on the challenging Rolling Hills course.

Shepard’s 45 was matched by teammate Kyle Jonas, and Richie Williams’ 48 completed Wilton’s total.

James Arthur had the fifth score with a 46 for the Warriors, who are now 8-3-1.
