Warde tops Wilton football team, 14-7

A third-quarter touchdown pass and two late interceptions led the Fairfield Warde football team past Wilton, 14-7, on Saturday at Fujitani Field.

It was the second straight loss for Wilton, which is now 3-3 this season.

Warde (3-3) broke a 7-7 halftime tie with 7:20 left in the third quarter when quarterback Brandon Bisack threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Joey Portenza.

Jack Whiting preserved his team's lead by intercepting two Wilton passes in the final five minutes from inside Warde territory, including one pickoff in the end zone.

Warde took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on Nick Nardone's one-yard touchdown run and Chris Jones's extra point.

The Warriors tied the game with 1:22 left in the opening half, as RJ Romeo connected with Jack Dexter on a six-yard touchdown pass and Will Sullivan booted the extra point. Wilton's score followed an interception by Rod Djaly Thoby, who returned the ball from his own goal line to the Warde 40.
