Volleyball: Warriors fall to Hatters 3-0

The Wilton High volleyball team fell to 3-9 on the season with three losses this past week.

In the most recent match on Tuesday at home, the Warriors lost to Danbury in straight sets. Julia Schiavone had 15 digs, seven assists and six service points for Wilton, while Ava Martinelli had 11 digs and seven service points and Shannon Golden had nine digs.

Philicia Sepio led the Hatters (5-7) with 19 kills.

Last Friday in Stamford, Wilton played Trinity Catholic tough in the second game, before losing 26-24, and wound up falling in three sets by scores of 25-15, 26-24, 25-21.

Carly Lovallo finished with 10 service points and two aces for the Warriors, in addition to two kills and two blocks. Schiavone had eight digs, six assists, five service points and two kills, while Golden had five digs. Rachel Low added two assists and one kill.

For Trinity (9-2) Elle Smyth had 10 kills and 20 digs.

Wilton also lost to Ridgefield last Wednesday, 3-0. Martinelli (10 digs) and Schiavone (14 digs) provided the highlights for the Warriors. The Tigers (9-2) were led by Elizabeth Middlebrook with 14 kills and Kathryn Jordan with 10 kills.
