The Wilton High volleyball team has opened the season against two of the FCIAC’s top teams, suffering a pair of 3-0 losses.

In their latest match, the Warriors lost to defending FCIAC and Class LL state champ Darien by scores of 25-10, 25-12, 25-5.

Wilton also lost to Trumbull, an FCIAC semifinalist a year ago, in last Thursday’s season opener.

“Despite the 0-2 start, the team is playing well and started both matches with great energy and momentum,” commented head coach Steve Brienza. “We need to continue to work on our play at net and be able to sustain that same momentum through the duration of a match. I’m encouraged by the way the team has played in the early going and expect that we will bounce back from the first two matches to gain our first win of the season.”

In Monday’s loss at Darien, Wilton was led by Megan Stanzione with six kills, two digs, a block and an ace. Victoria DePilato had five points, six assists and two aces, and Eric Miskinis had three points and four digs.
