Video highlights: Wilton and Darien preseason baseball

Wilton traveled to Darien to face the Blue Wave on their artificial turf baseball field — one of the few in the state — to get in a baseball scrimmage before the regular season starts next week.

The Wednesday, April 1, game was one of just a handful of scrimmages that have been held in Connecticut after the rough winter that has left most baseball fields unplayable. But Darien's field isn't made of dirt (except around home plate and the pitching mound).

HAN Radio and the Hersam Acorn Network, which debuted with live state basketball and hockey video last month, was testing out baseball on video Wednesday. HAN Radio, which has been covering Connecticut high school sports since 2013, has a large slate of baseball and lacrosse games planned. Hersam Acorn, the Wilton Bulletin's parent company, will offer live video streams with most HAN Radio games through the NFHS Network.

The first regular season baseball game on the radio and video schedule is Ridgefield vs. Wilton on Friday, April 10. You can find out more and see past games at http://www.nfhsnetwork.com/affiliates/hersam-acorn

Here are some highlights from Wednesday (keep in mind it's our first time shooting a baseball game). You can watch the full game here.

The radio broadcasts, carried on HANRadio.com, WiltonBulletin.com and through the TuneIn smart phone app, is free. The video streams are available for paid subscribers. Subscriptions are available for a day, a month, six months or a year. Subscribe here.
