Trefz leads St. Joseph to 35-0 romp over Wilton

A humbling 49-7 loss to unbeaten Darien last week left the St. Joseph football team motivated, ornery and ready to get back on the field.

That was not good for Wilton.

Playing at home Friday night, the Warriors were routed, 35-0, by St. Joseph at Tom Fujitani Field.

The loss dropped Wilton to 1-4 this season, while the Cadets improved to 3-1.

St. Joseph running back Christian Trefz was the biggest problem for the Warriors. He ran for nearly 250 yards and three touchdowns and also caught a pass for a score.

A five-yard touchdown pass from Cory Babineau to Kevin Trefz and a 68-yard scoring run from Christian Trefz staked St. Joseph to a 14-0 lead after one quarter.

Babineau then connected with Christian Trefz on a two-yard TD pass with 18 seconds left in the second period, putting the Cadets ahead, 21-0, at halftime.

Wilton moved the ball early in the third quarter, but a fumble inside the St. Joseph 10-yard line ended the drive.

St. Joseph got two more scoring runs from Christian Trefz, one on a 42-yard burst, to pull away for the 35-0 victory.
