All five Wilton tennis players in the boys and girls State Open tournaments remain alive after Saturday’s opening rounds of play.

The Warriors are represented in the girls tournament by the doubles teams of Taylor Ingerman and Leigh Culnane, and Ally Shay and Rachel Low, and in the boys tourney by singles player Nick Condos.

Both Wilton girls tennis doubles teams advanced to the round of 16 of after Saturday’s opening rounds, held at Conard and Hall High Schools in West Hartford.

Shay and Low won their preliminary-round match over Amber Raisner and Katelyn Seidman of Hall, 8-3, and then defeated Mackenzie Klein and Lila Vogel of Pomperaug in the first round, 8-1.

In the second round, they defeated Rachel Finkel and Abigail Roth of Weston, 8-3. They face top-seeded Anna Barsanti and Mia Dursht of Darien in Monday’s round of 16 at Yale University.

Ingerman and Culnane scored a pair of 8-1 wins in the first two rounds, beating Meaghan Daley and Elizabeth Fetzner of Granby Memorial and Adelaide Demaj and Emma Kyzivat of Simsbury. They take on Katelyn Mogelnicki and Lauren Mogelnicki of Northwest Catholic in Monday’s action, which will feature the round of 16 and the quarterfinals.

Boys tournament

Condos opened the boys State Open singles tournament with a straight set win over Brendan White of Old Lyme, 6-1, 6-0, in the first round at Amity High School. He plays Will Syndney of Weston in the quarterfinals on Monday at Yale.
