Unbeaten St. Joseph scored 28 unanswered points in the second half to pull away for a 44-20 victory over the Wilton High football team on Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

Trailing 16-7 at halftime, Wilton (3-2) narrowed its deficit to two points when quarterback Brett Phillips connected with Paul Sorbo on a 17-yard touchdown pass early in the third quarter to make it 16-14.

But the Cadets (5-0) responded with two touchdown passes from quarterback Jordan Vazzano to Shane Miller and Alex Pinto to go ahead 30-14 after three quarters.

Touchdown runs from Mufasa Abdul-Basir and Joey Civitella increased St. Joseph's lead to 44-14 early in the fourth quarter.

Wilton got the game's final points on Ace Sakamoto's one-yard touchdown run later in the quarter.

Following a scoreless first quarter, the Cadets reeled off 16 straight points on two touchdowns and a safety to take a 16-0 lead. Phillips then hit Jack Dexter with a three-yard scoring pass to pull Wilton within 16-7 at halftime
