Unbeaten New Canaan, the state's top-ranked team, pulled away in the second half to defeat Wilton, 35-7, in an FCIAC football game Friday night in Wilton.

It was the fifth straight loss for the Warriors, who are now 3-6 overall.

Wilton gave the Rams (9-0) a scare through the first two quarters, forging a 7-7 tie at halftime on John D'Elisa's three-yard run late in the second quarter.

But New Canaan took a 14-7 lead on a short touchdown run in the third quarter and then added three more touchdowns in the final quarter to put the Warriors away.
