In a match that stretched out over two days, the Wilton High girls tennis team outlasted Darien for a 4-3 win on Wednesday in Darien.

It was the first win over Darien in three years for the Warriors, who improved to 4-0.

The match was stopped on Tuesday evening due to darkness. When play resumed on Wednesday, Wilton was up 3-2 with two matches left.

At third doubles, senior Hanna Montgomery and sophomore Kaitlyn Zheng began play with a 4-3 lead in the third set, and swept the remaining two games for a 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 win.

Senior Sammy Augenbraun, at fourth singles, started the day down 2-1 in the third set, and wound up losing the hard-fought set, 6-4, to Katie Lashendock.

All in all, three matches went to three sets, and several others were extremely hard-fought.

At third singles, senior captain Allie Schaefer was down a set and match point, but fought back to win in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2, over Allegra Molkenthin.

Other wins for Wilton came from freshman Maddi Stow at first singles, and junior Maddy Murphy and sophomore Bridget Cott at second doubles.
