Girls lacrosse: Warriors drop Northport, 8-6

The Wilton High girls lacrosse team took the early lead and never looked back, scoring an 8-6 win at Northport, L.I., on Saturday.

It was the third straight win for the Warriors (5-3), who were coming off a 9-7 win over Staples last Thursday.

Wilton, which led 5-3 at halftime, was led by Sara Dickinson with three goals, while Rebecca Wistreich and Makenna Pearsall each had two goals.

Freshman Eva Greco had a break-out game with four points on one goal and three assists.

Pearsall also had an assist and a season-high eight draw controls, while Lilla Seymour also had one assist.

Olivia Phelan had a solid game in goal, registering six saves.

“It was a great game, a defensive battle,” said Head Coach Meredith Meyran. “We really worked together and did a great job of hitting the cutters on offense and communicating and playing as a unit defensively.”

Northport dropped to 6-4 with the loss.
