In a game full of intense defense, the Wilton High girls basketball team lost to Trumbull, 35-27, on Saturday afternoon in Trumbull.

Wilton (8-8) led 11-7 at the end of the first quarter, but Trumbull (14-2) rebounded by outscoring the Warriors, 10-1, in the second quarter to go ahead, 17-12, at halftime.

Each team added 10 points in the third quarter, and Trumbull then preserved the victory by outscoring Wilton, 8-5, in the final period.

Three players combined for 21 of the Warriors' 27 points. Claire Gulbin led the way with eight points, followed by Karen Brosko with seven points and Caroline Sweeny with six points.

Meaghan Downey, Sarah Fitzgerald and Taylor Ingerman added two points apiece to complete the Wilton scoring. Sweeny and Gulbin each hit two three-pointers for the Warriors.

Claudia Tucci had a game-high 14 points for Trumbull. Alyssa Breunig added 13 points and 11 rebounds.
