Girls hockey: Wilton romps to 7-2 win over Stamford

The Wilton-Norwalk girls hockey team improved to 3-0 in FCIAC play with a 7-2 win over the combined team from Stamford, Staples and Westhill on Wednesday at SoNo Ice House in Norwalk.

In their most balanced offensive effort of the season, the Warriors got goals from five different players, led by Alex Marcarelli and Nicole Lue with two goals and two assists each.

Defenseman Perri Blicht had one goal to go with three assists, and Meghan Keating had one goal and one assist.

Caroline Costello also scored for the Warriors, who are now 3-3 overall.

“It was an all-around great team effort. Everyone took their game to the next level,” said head coach Melissa Hawkins. “We had scoring contributions all across the board. Our fourth line battled hard. Our forecheck was strong; we crashed the net and jammed home lots of loose rebounds.”

The Warriors travel to Greenwich on Saturday for a 6:30 game.
