Nicole Lue scored three goals, including the game-winner in the third period to snap a 2-2 tie, to give the Wilton/Norwalk High girls hockey team a 3-2 win over Trumbull in the season opener on Wednesday.

Lue scored twice in the first period to give her team a 2-0 lead, but Trumbull capitalized on a pair of defensive breakdowns to score two goals late in the second period and tie the game.

"The girls came out in the third period with a hard-working mentality, knowing they didn't want this game to slip away," said coach Melissa Hawkins. "They dug down and found a way to score the go-ahead goal and then it was defense the rest of the way for the 'W'."
