Gang fight at Bassick postpones boys hoop game with Wilton (updated)

According to an online report from The Connecticut Post, a fight between members of two street gangs at Bassick High School in Bridgeport on Wednesday afternoon led to the postponement of the Wilton-Bassick boys basketball game that was scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at Bassick.

The game has been rescheduled for tonight (Thursday) at 7 at Bassick.

On its website, The Connecticut Post reported that the fight began in the high school and then moved onto a city street.

The paper also said that there was a report of a gun being fired, but that police could find no evidence of a weapon or a gunshot.

In the mid-1990s, a boys basketball game between Bridgeport rivals Harding and Bassick at Bassick was stopped when members of two gangs got involved in a fight on the court.
