Field hockey: Wilton wins state opener

The Wilton High field hockey team advanced to the Class L quarterfinals with a 5-1 win over Fairfield Ludlowe on Wednesday at home.

Wilton got two goals from Caroline Ferro and single tallies from Julia Skillin, Olivia Hahn and Susan Clasby. Meredith Rappaport and Emma Rothkopf each had two assists.

Four of the five Wilton goals came off penalty corners.

Alyssa Kraus scored for Ludlowe, off a pass from Margot Shanahan.

Wilton plays Staples in the quaraterfinals in Westport. The day and time will be announced later.
