Field hockey: Darien hands Wilton first loss

Darien tallied a goal in each half and held the Wilton High field hockey team scoreless en route to a 2-0 win on Thursday in the showdown between defending state champs in Darien.

It was the first loss of the season for the Warriors (4-1), who saw their 23-game regular-season win streak come to an end. Darien had been the last team to beat Wilton in the regular season, in 2011.

Lizette Roman-Johnston made nine save in goal for the Warriors, as Darien (5-0) had an 11-3 edge in shots on goal.
