Wilton resident John DelliSanti provided a spark as the Fairfield Prep football team defeat West Haven, 29-28, in a Class LL state semifinal game Saturday afternoon.

Seventh-seed Prep will now play fourth-seed Southington in the Class LL title game next Saturday at 6:30 at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.

DelliSanti, a junior wide receiver/linebacker, returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown to put Prep ahead, 22-19, late in the third quarter.

West Haven answered with a touchdown to take a 26-22 lead, but Prep went ahead for good, 29-26, on Nick Crowle's one-yard scoring run midway through the fourth quarter.

Prep (11-2) will be making its first appearance in a state championship game since 1988.
